A Florida teenager found out the hard way that performing a Facebook challenge isn’t worth the internet fame after he was arrested and charged with domestic battery — against his own mother.

Gulf High School senior Michael Corley shared on Facebook that he would perform the “Facebook Egg Challenge,” in which a person cracks a raw egg on the head of an unsuspecting victim, or even themselves, if his post received 300 comments.

Corley informed officers that he looked away from his phone “for a while” as the comments racked up, The Tampa Bay Times reports.

According to his mother, Carrie Lann, the 18-year-old was upset with her after she took away his Playstation due to his poor grades; however, her son says that he was not bothered by the punishment. Instead, the incident was a result of receiving enough comments. Corley slightly cracked an egg on the kitchen counter and opened it on his mother’s head.

According to the arrest affidavit, Lann slapped her son “across the back of his head with an open hand.” Corley, standing at 6-foot-2, then allegedly grabbed his mother’s shirt and threw her on the dining room table, causing a laceration on her back. Lann told Pasco County Sheriff deputies that her boyfriend intervened to prevent further violence.

Corley claims he did not slam his mother on the table, but instead, he was cleaning the egg up from the floor when his 44-year-old mother slapped him. Startled, he jumped up and accidentally knocked her on the table.

Corley was arrested and was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery, according to online records.

Pasco County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to Yahoo Lifestyle’s requests for comment.
