He explained how Jay taught him how to write songs in a particular format, but he eventually needed to make changes to progress. After meeting Cory Rooney and being introduced to Track Masters, he negotiated a release from Jay’s label and signed with Columbia Records. The interview is from 1998, before 50 Cent was shot and before he released Get Rich or Die Tryin’.
