Daytona Beach Officer Shoots Suspect Armed With A Rifle

Daytona Beach police have released body camera footage in the officer-involved shooting that happened Monday morning.

The incident started around 8:10 a.m. near the intersection of International Speedway Boulevard and Ridgewood Avenue, according to police.

Police Chief Craig Capri said an employee at an area Popeyes pulled into the location waiting on her shift to start when a man attempted to carjack her.

The woman was able to get away to safety before calling the police.

Units soon responded to the area where they noticed the suspect walking with a rifle, according to officials. Officers then engaged the suspect after telling him to drop the rifle.

The bodycam footage shows officers ordering the man several times to put the gun down, then officers fire at least six shots in total. Continue Reading
